"The harder I work out and the better my diet is, the more my genetics improve" -- Unknown

******************************************************

The above quote was on a power point presentation given at a seminar by a colleague who is one of the countries top nutrition experts. His point was that many people use the excuse of poor "genetics" to avoid doing the hard work necessary to maximize their genetic potential.

His clientele is mainly top professional athletes from a variety of sports. They all seek him out because he gives them the best information available and specifically makes changes to their diet that increases performance in their chosen sport.

Often he can correct a majority of problems with just a comprehensive blood analysis that tests for food allergies. A change in diet avoiding foods that create an allergic reaction often makes a massive change in the body's ability to absorb nutrients and the athlete is then able to pack on lean muscle or shred fat from their body.

But he chuckles at how people try to throw money at him for a quick fix. Often they want to know what fat burner to take or if the "supplement of the week" listed in the latest fitness rag will do it for them.

He told me how much he appreciated my talk on TFT and how important "targeting" was in any endeavor. That caused me to pause and reflect on many of the questions I get from clients about how to hit harder, etc...

I tell people over and over the best way to hit harder is first hit your targets. I also give people a simple drill: to constantly look for targets throughout their day as they see people in the streets, malls, grocery stores, etc...

The best way to improve a skill is to constantly practice it in non-stressful settings. That way under stress the brain naturally seeks out this familiar skill set. Professional athletes throughout the world use this visualization method. Usually the top performers are the best at this method.

Yet I get some confused looks and follow up questions like "Ok, I'll do that but what type of workout should I do?" They want me to give them a weight-based workout to improve their power and (most won't admit) their body composition.

I laugh to myself and wonder why they even asked for my advice. Since I told them to first work on their targeting, perhaps they should ask themselves why I advised that course of action.

The answer? Because...

****** THEIR TARGETING SUCKS!!!! ******** The biggest improvement they could make in their fighting at this stage is simply improving targeting... period. After that is accomplished I can then assist them in improving their physical dynamics to increase the trauma they deliver to those targets.

In fact, I'm currently working on an incredible program that will increase power in any strike you use. I'm really excited about the program and the results after just a couple of sessions. But I chuckle to myself that maybe I should come up with some elaborate piece of equipment to go along with the program.

Why? Because the program involves no equipment or partners and is recommended 2-4 times a week for no more than 10 minutes a session. It kinesthetically trains your body how to optimize your individual striking power and actives all the necessary muscles and tendons in the kinetic chain.

But without a nice piece of equipment to go along with it, few people will probably follow the program... except, of course, those who want to take out an attacker by hitting the first target they see and shattering that target area.

But hey, we'll see...

Until next time,
